Designed by Alvar Aalto, the Cabinet 250 is an elegant and timeless storage piece that combines natural materials with precise craftsmanship. Originally designed as a cocktail cabinet in the 1930s, it is part of Aalto’s iconic L-leg series. Although the design is officially attributed to Alvar Aalto for its use of the L-leg, archival records reveal that Aino Aalto, life and design partner of Alvar, was the first to attach a cabinet structure to the L-leg, giving the piece much of its practical character and thoughtful design.

Constructed from solid birch legs and birch veneer with a warm honey stain finish, its compact size and well-proportioned interior offer practical storage for everyday use. The three internal compartments include two adjustable shelves with different depths for versatile storage. The flat top surface offers extra space for display or storage, while the open base design keeps the piece visually light and stable, allowing easy access for floor cleaning. It is ideal for storing everything from serving pieces to special tableware, and can just as easily be used to hold everyday items such as bed linen or clothing.

To celebrate its 90th anniversary, Artek is opening its archives and bringing back long-loved pieces. The Treasures from the Archive series reintroduces beloved classics from past decades, preserving the timeless character of Artek’s work.
