Jean Prouvé designed Tabouret Metallique along with two other proposed metal models in 1946 for the Maison d'éducation surveillée de Saint-Maurice. The design elaborated in the Jean Prouvé studios never actually went into production, but it is now being manufactured by Vitra for the first time. The underframe made of bent sheet metal exhibits structural affinities with the later Trapéze table.
The Tabouret Metallique is a practical stool that can also be used as a small side table and comes in a selection of original Prouvé colours. The seating surface gently curves inwards for additional comfort and a hole in the centre makes it easy to pick up and move around. The Tabouret Metallique is the perfect complementary item to use alongside the Tabouret 307 Stool.
