Kay Bojesen's characterful Wooden Monkey was born in 1951, holding a special appeal for both children and adults alike. A new version has been created in collaboration with Mads Nørgaard wearing a Breton top. Is he a sailor?.. Or simply a dedicated follower of fashion, who can tell.

The Wooden Monkey is a classic and a dear friend for life – from being a popular toy in the playroom or nursery to a much-loved design icon in the home. Now, the iconic Monkey has its own set of clothes. Two of the most iconic milestones in Danish design history have joined forces to celebrate the smiling lines and cheerful stripes each has contributed to Danish Design.

Lovingly handcrafted at Rosendahl’s Danish workshop, the Wooden Monkey with stripe lines is crafted to the highest standards of workmanship and features moving joints which allow you to change the position. Featuring thick black and thin white stripes, the small Kay Bojesen Monkey x Nøorgaard paa Strøget is made from FSC-certified teak and limba, measuring 18.5 cm in height.

The product comes presented in a nice box with a small cotton tote bag inside to hold the monkey.

Oiled teak, oiled limba and paint


Plantation teak is used for making the Wooden Monkey as a sustainable alternative to rainforest teak. Kay Bojesen only use responsibly produced teak from FSC-certified plantations in their production. The use of plantation teak contributes to more responsible felling, better living conditions for local communities and helps preserve the rainforest and wildlife.

In nature, teak is uneven and mottled in its look, and it is described as a living natural product. The colour structure is affected by the soil conditions where it grows, including different minerals, which means that the wood can be dark, light, wax-yellow or grey-green when freshly cut. The variations in colour are therefore a natural occurrence and not a sign of poor quality. Monkey’s expression and personality will develop over time, as exposure to light and air will make any colour nuances in the teak into a more even, golden brown and warm tone.

    Very happy with the new design Wooden Monkey x Nørgaard Paa Strøget
    by Kay Bojesen. Came in a nice little pouch and nice box. He’s super cute with his stripy French top!

    Shipped to Australia with no problems.

    Also, RWM do a great job with their courier packaging. I I’ve purchased 3 times and all have been really well packed & no damage. When shipping so far this is critical!
