Fritz Hansen's Plank Bench is a simple, modern and playful design crafted from solid FSC-certified teak. From the top of the backrest runs two horizontal planks, ideal for placing a glass of wine, small flowerpots or a lantern at night. As the bench has no arms it's also possible to use the bench as somewhere to lay in the sun and soak up some rays.
Plank Bench is designed by Aurélien Barbry, an industrial and interior designer, who graduated from École Camondo in Paris in 1997. After working for seven years as a designer for the French top architect Jean Nouvel, he has worked for companies like Alessi, Cori, Ecruis Raynaud, Menu, Georg Jensen and Normann Copenhagen. Barbry has designed among other things hotel rooms, furniture and kitchen tools.
