Designed by the Helsinki-based Studio Kaksikko, the Muuto Mere Bowl is a sculptural centrepiece that looks beautiful in a tablescape, whether in use or not. Its characteristic shape is simple yet ingenious: a line down its middle folds out to the sides, forming a bowl. Elevated by a discreet foot, it appears as if it's floating from some perspectives. Crafted from tactile ceramic stoneware, it's coated with a high-gloss glaze both inside and out, which enhances the shadows that form along the Mere Bowl's fold. This surface treatment makes the bowl food-safe and easy to clean. Thanks to its generous size, the bowl is versatile, and suitable for uses ranging from a fruit bowl to a small storage container.

Studio Kaksikko on the design: "Mere Bowl was inspired by a small porcelain piece Salla made on the pottery wheel in our studio. The contrast between its conical round shape and the strict line of its bottom inspired us to continue experimenting with it. Initially prototyping with paper, we created bowl-like surfaces through folding, later transitioning from bendable materials to the rigidity of plaster. We wanted it to be both a humble, utilitarian item and an elegant, standalone sculptural form, casting beautiful shadows when empty."
