Bunad Blankets are a series of colourful blankets based on motifs from different regions in Norway: Beltestakk, Vest-Agder, Gol, Trøndelag and Bergen. 'Bunader' are traditional costumes with roots in rural clothes from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The designer, Andreas Engesvik, works with Norwegian manufacturer Fram Oslo to make products in the Bunad range.
The quality of the blankets has the right balance between weight and function (not too thick) and it drapes nicely. It is meant as an all-year blanket, to be used both at home and in the summer/winter cabin.
Fram Oslo is a Scandinavian furniture and interior design company with a Norwegian signature. Fram Oslo seeks to offer modern and sustainable quality products, that will last for generations.
Andreas Engesvik on the design: "All the colours are exactly the same as on the bunads; we did a lot of fine tuning of course, and we had to choose eight colours for every blanket, as this is the limit for the Jacquard machine" - which is used to create this unique pattern and texture.
