Constructed from a solid birch wood seat, the bench is supported by Aalto's iconic L-legs. The L-bend legs are mounted directly to the underside of the seat without the need for complicated connecting elements. The bench's lightweight and versatile design, with its minimalist aesthetic, not only fits seamlessly into various spaces but also allows the bench to be used for storage or display.
Manufactured in Finland's 'A-Factory', the production of the L-leg undergoes 25 distinct stages. Made entirely from high-quality Finnish solid birch, the carefully selected trees, aged between 60-80 years, are harvested during winter. Afterwards, they are dried at the factory lumberyard for a year to prepare for the next stages of production. Such a considered process makes the bench more durable and sturdy.
