The Austere Trestles are simple wooden folding trestles, they are made from solid oak with brushed and polished stainless steel hinges. They are available in two finishes; oiled oak and white oiled oak.

They were designed by Kristian Vedel in 1968 whilst he led the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He found the classrooms were lacking functional furniture for the students. His trestles were the solution. Their folding capacity makes them easy to store when not in use. This is also a perfect solution for small living spaces; a room which is used as a home office could become a guest room in seconds.
