In 2006, Coca-Cola and Emeco teamed up to solve an environmental problem - keeping waste plastic bottles out of landfills and oceans. It took four years and many work hours to upcycle the soft recycled PET into a structurally sound, timeless chair, but it was time well spent. The 111 Navy is the first-ever chair made from 100% recycled bottles. Each 111 Navy Chair is made from at least 111 recycled plastic bottles. Since its launch in 2010, the 111 Navy Chair has kept millions of bottles from landfill every year.

Modelled after the original aluminium Emeco 1006 Navy Chair, each chair is made from 65% recycled PET (plastic bottles), pigment and 35% fibreglass for reinforcement. Thanks to the innovative construction materials, the 111 Navy Chair is a structurally strong and scratch-resistant chair for heavy-duty use. Featuring a curved backrest, back legs and a unique concave curved seat, the chair ensures its user maximum comfort while seated.

The 111 Navy Chair is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Emeco

This product is designed by
Emeco

Emeco started in 1944, founded on the principle "Begin with what’s left over. Turn it into what will last." Emeco took salvaged aluminium and made chairs for the US Navy. A simple war-time necessity, which became an ongoing direction. Today we also have growing mountains of scrap plastic. Emeco keeps it out of oceans and landfills and instead turns it into furniture that lasts - A new planet necessity.

Emeco makes products in the USA, just like they always have since 1944. At the Emeco factory in Hanover, Pennsylvania, Emeco craftsmen still turn scrap aluminium into chairs so strong Emeco guarantee them for life. That's how Emeco define sustainability.
