The 1 Inch Aluminium Frame taps into Emeco's heritage in hand crafting recycled aluminium, leveraging its signature strength, lightweight attributes and sustainability to create a versatile family of seats. With 1 inch series, the frame of each stool is handcrafted using Emeco's 77-step process - a technique that has been used to produce the original 1006 Navy Chair since 1944.
Jasper Morrison developed the frame that uses only a one-inch profile throughout. This square extruded aluminium tube has the best strength-to-weight ratio possible to let the stool use the least amount of material whilst providing the maximum amount of strength. When used outdoors, the circular apertures in the seat drain the rainwater and allow wind to blow through. Each hole is slightly contoured adding additional strength while reducing overall weight. The 1 Inch All Aluminium Stool is a lightweight, timeless and remarkably sturdy piece of furniture. Jasper Morrison is one of Britain’s most successful and well renowned industrial designers. He is best known for a design approach that makes hard-working products appear aesthetically quiet. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he coined the term 'super normal’ - it means a good example of understated, useful and responsible design. To Morrison it answers the question of what ‘good design’ really should be.
